The Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiated an expiry review of its finding concerning the dumping of certain hot-rolled carbon steel plate and high-strength low-alloy steel plate originating in or exported from Brazil, Denmark, Indonesia, Italy, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
The Tribunal's finding, issued in May 2014 imposed anti-dumping duties on these goods.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will determine, by October 4, 2019, if there is a likelihood of resumed or continued dumping of the goods if the finding is left to expire.
In the event of positive determinations by the Agency, the Tribunal will determine, by March 12, 2020, whether the continued or resumed dumping is likely to result in injury to Canadian manufacturers.
According to statistics published by the CBSA, 37,479 kilograms of the subject good were imported in 2017, resulting in the collection of $10,131 in anti-dumping duties.
