Mandatory electronic reporting for exporters to begin on June 30, 2020

July 11, 2019

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will eliminate the paper reporting process (Export Declaration form B13A) and implement mandatory electronic reporting for exporters.

As of June 30, 2020, the CBSA will no longer accept the form B13A. Exportations will have to be reported electronically.

The CBSA advises that there will be two electronic reporting methods available to report goods: the Canadian Export Reporting System (CERS) and the G7 Export Reporting Electronic Data Interchange (G7-EDI)

G7-EDI is currently in existence and can be used now. CERS is a new system that will replace the Canadian Automated Export Declaration (CAED) system. Exporters can register for CERS once it is in place, March 16, 2020.
