Canada-Israel modernized free trade agreement enters into force

August 29, 2019

In May 20018 Canada and Israel agreed to amend the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement (CIFTA) that originally came into force on January 1, 1997.

The amended Agreement enters into force on September 1, 2019 and includes rate reductions in 847 tariff items for goods that qualify to the Canada-Israel Agreement Tariff (CIAT). The tariff items are listed in the schedule to this document.

The new CIFTA also includes additional countries where CIFTA-eligible goods may undergo minor processing prior to entering Canada.
