U.S. slightly lowers punitive duties on sodium sulfate anhydrous from Canada

March 24, 2020

The U.S. Department of Commerce announced its final affirmative determination in the antidumping duty (AD) investigation of imports of sodium sulfate anhydrous from Canada.

The Department calculated a dumping rate of 8,89 percent for the mandatory respondent and for all other producers/exporters in Canada. This is a little less that the preliminary determination of 9,85% in October.

As a result of the final affirmative AD determination, Commerce will instruct U.S. Customs and Border Protection to collect AD cash deposits equal to the applicable final dumping rates.

The U.S. International Trade Commission is scheduled to make its final determination of injury on or about May 7, 2020. If the Commission makes an affirmative final determination that imports of sodium sulfate anhydrous from Canada materially injure, or threaten material injury to, the domestic industry, Commerce will issue an AD order. If the Commission makes a negative determination of injury, the investigation will be terminated.
