Mandatory electronic reporting for exporters to begin on June 30, 2020

April 15, 2020

As announced last year, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will eliminate the possibility of declaring exports on a paper form as of June 30, 2020, and exporters will have to report electronically.

This new requirement combines with the decommissioning of the current Canadian Automated Export Declaration (CAED) program operated by Statistics Canada.

A new system, the Canadian Export Reporting System Portal, has been put in place by the Canada Borders Services Agency.

The new Portal was designed to enable exporters to electronically submit their export declarations.

The G7 Export Reporting Electronic Data Interchange (G7-EDI) is also an option for declaring exports.
