In December 2019, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiated an expiry review of its order concerning dumping of concrete reinforcing bar from China, Korea and Turkey and the subsidizing of concrete reinforcing bar from China. The order, issued in January 2015, imposed anti-dumping and/or countervailing duties on these goods originating or exported from the three countries.

Following the Tribunal's December decision, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) initiated an expiry review investigation to determine whether the expiry of the finding is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and/or subsidizing of the subject goods.

The CBSA's investigation has now been completed and the Agency has determined that the expiry of the order is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and of subsidizing.

The Tribunal will now conduct an inquiry to determine whether the expiry of its finding is likely to result in injury to the Canadian industry and will issue its decision by October 14, 2020. Anti-dumping and countervailing duties will continue to apply to the subject goods until that date.
