CFIA expands the Recognition of Export Grain Analysis program

June 2, 2020

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency's (CFIA) Recognition of Export Grain Analysis by Authorized Laboratories (REGAL) program provides a testing alternative for grain export shipments.

Grain exporters in Canada can choose to have their grain shipments tested by the CFIA or, for improved market access, by CFIA authorized private laboratories that are part of the REGAL program (Accredited Seed Labs or ISO/IEC 17025 laboratories that meet the program standards).

As of June 1, 2020, all exporters that require live insect testing, soil analysis and/or specific weed seeds detection for grain shipments to any country can submit their product to a REGAL laboratory authorized by the CFIA.
