Dumping would resume if duties expired on certain steel plate from Ukraine, says CBSA

June 12, 2020

In January the Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiated an expiry review of its order concerning the dumping of certain hot-rolled steel plate originating in or exported from Ukraine. The order, issued in 2010 and extended in January 2015, imposed anti-dumping duties on these goods

Following the Tribunal's December decision, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) initiated an expiry review investigation to determine whether the expiry of the finding is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping of the subject goods.

The CBSA's investigation has now been completed and the Agency has determined that the expiry of the order is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping.

The Tribunal will now conduct an inquiry to determine whether the expiry of its finding is likely to result in injury to the Canadian industry and will issue its decision by November 10, 2020. Anti-dumping duties will continue to apply to the subject goods until that date.
