Consultation on changes to international phytosanitary measures standards

July 16, 2020

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is inviting stakeholders to submit comments on proposed revisions to the international standards for phytosanitary measures under the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC)

The IPPC is an international treaty that establishes a common approach to preventing the introduction and spread of plant pests and promotes measures for their control.

The CFIA is Canada's representative to the IPPC and is responsible for submitting comments to the IPPC on behalf of Canadians.

Information on the 2020 consultation is available on the CFIA's website. There will also be a webinar on August 6, 2020 providing an introduction to the IPPC and the standard setting process, an overview of changes to draft ISPMs and of the draft specifications for ISPMs, followed by an open discussion and comment period.
