CBSA starts dumping investigation on reinforcing bar from seven countries

September 25, 2020

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) launched an investigation into whether or not certain concrete reinforcing bar from Algeria, Egypt, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam are being sold at unfair prices in Canada. The investigation follows a complaint filed by three Canadian manufacturers.

In the next step of the investigation the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) will first determine whether the imports are harming Canadian producers.

Concurrently, the CBSA will investigate whether the imports are being sold in Canada at unfair prices and will make a preliminary decision by December 21, 2020.

Anti-dumping duties could eventually be applied to the goods under investigation.
