CBSA issues dumping determination on heavy steel plate from three countries

October 15, 2020

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) made a preliminary determination of dumping with respect to certain hot-rolled carbon steel heavy plate and high-strength low-alloy steel heavy plate originating in or exported from Chinese Taipei, Germany and Turkey.

The CBSA did not find illegal dumping, and terminated the investigation, in respect of the above mentioned goods originating in or exported from South Korea and Malaysia.

Provisional duties at rates ranging from 2.9% to 97% will now be payable on the subject goods from Chinese Taipei, Germany and Turkey that are released from customs on or after October 9, 2020.

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) will now formally determine if the dumping is causing prejudice to Canadian industry.
