UK and Japan sign free agreement deal for post-Brexit era

October 27, 2020

The United Kingdom concluded and signed last week its first major post-Brexit trade agreement, the UK-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

Most observers noticed that the agreement basically reflects the current situation between the UK and Japan under Japan's agreement with the European Union.

The British Government hopes the CEPA signals Japan's commitment to supporting the UK's accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
