November 18, 2020

In January of this year the World Customs Organization (WCO) posted to its website the official version of changes to the Harmonized System (HS) nomenclature which will enter into force on January 1, 2022.

This week the WCO's Harmonized System Committee (HSC) announced that it completed its examination of the correlations prepared by the organization's Secretariat.

The Correlation Tables are essential tools for the trade community in preparing for the introduction of a new edition of the HS. These tables provide guidance on the correlations between the Seventh Edition of the Harmonized System (HS), which comes into force on 1 January 2022 and the current HS 2017 (Sixth Edition) of the HS.

The new version of the HS includes 351 sets of amendments, divided as follows: the agricultural, food and tobacco sectors - 77; the chemical sector 58; the wood sector - 31; the textile sector - 21; the base metal sector - 27; the machinery and electrical and electronic goods sector - 63; the transport sector - 22; other sectors - 52.
