Tribunal to review expiry of duties on steel sheet and strip from four countries

July 16, 2021

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiated an expiry review of its finding of August 2016, which resulted on anti-dumping and/or countervailing duties being applied to flat hot-rolled carbon and alloy steel sheet and strip from Brazil, China, India and Ukraine

The Tribunal will determine if the expiry of the finding is likely to lead to continued or resumed dumping and/or subsidizing of the sheet and strip and if this would be likely to result in injury to Canadian industry.

In the first step of the review the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will determine, by December 6, 2021, if there is a likelihood of resumed or continued dumping and/or subsidizing of the goods if the finding is left to expire.

In the event of positive determinations, the Tribunal will determine, on May 13, 2022, whether the continued or resumed dumping and/or subsidizing is likely to result in injury.
