U.S. Customs' merchandise processing fee to increase on October 1st

U.S. Customs and Border Protection will be increasing, the Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) which applies to imported goods starting October 1st.

The Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) ad valorem rate of 0.3464% will NOT change. The MPF minimum and maximum for formal entries will change. The minimum will change from $27.23 to $27.75; and the maximum will change from $528.33 to $538.40.

Note that, generally, goods that originate in Canada and qualify for duty-free entry (0% tariff) under CUSMA/USMCA are exempt from MPF. The CUSMA/USMCA preference must be claimed to receive the MPF exemption.
