Tribunal to review expiry of duties on certain steel line pipe from China and Japan

September 28, 2021

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiated an expiry review of its October 2016 finding to determine if the expiry of the finding is likely to lead to continued or resumed dumping of welded large diameter carbon and alloy steel line pipe from China and Japan, and the subsidizing of these goods from China, and if this would be likely to result in injury to Canadian industry.

In the first step of the review the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will determine, by February 24, 2022, if there is a likelihood of resumed or continued dumping and/or subsidizing of the goods if the finding is left to expire.

In the event of positive determinations, the Tribunal will determine, on August 3, 2022, whether the continued or resumed dumping and/or subsidizing is likely to result in injury.
