CBSA finds dumping/subsidizing would resume if duties expired on copper pipe fittings from Vietnam

June 20, 2023

On January 16, 2023, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT), initiated an expiry review of its May 2018 finding concerning the dumping and subsidizing of certain copper pipe fittings originating in or exported from Vietnam.

Following the Tribunal's decision, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) initiated an expiry review investigation to determine whether the expiry of the finding is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and/or subsidizing of the subject goods.

The CBSA's expiry review investigation has now been completed and the Agency has determined that the expiry of the finding is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of the dumping, and of the subsidizing, of such goods originating in or exported from Vietnam.

The CITT will now conduct an inquiry to determine whether the expiry of its finding is likely to result in injury to the Canadian industry, and will issue its decision by November 22, 2023.
