Tribunal initiates expiry review of duties on carbon steel plate from China

July 12, 2023

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiated an expiry review of its order made in August 2018 to determine if the expiry of the order is likely to lead to continued or resumed dumping of hot-rolled carbon steel plate from the People's Republic of China and is likely to result in injury to the domestic industry.

In the first step of the review the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will determine, by December 7, 2023, if there is a likelihood of resumed or continued dumping if the finding is left to expire.

In the event of a positive determination, the Tribunal will determine, no later than May 15, 2024, whether the continued or resumed dumping is likely to result in injury to the domestic industry.
