CBSA finds dumping would resume if duties expired on certain transformers from South Korea

July 19, 2023

On February 13, 2023, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) initiated an expiry review of its order from May 2018 concerning the dumping of certain liquid dielectric transformers originating in or exported from the Republic of Korea.

Following the Tribunal's decision, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) initiated an expiry review investigation to determine whether the expiry of the finding is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping of the subject goods.

The CBSA's expiry review investigation has now been completed and the Agency has determined that the expiry of the finding is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping of such goods originating in or exported from the Republic of Korea.

The CITT will now conduct an inquiry to determine whether the expiry of its finding is likely to result in injury to the Canadian industry, and will issue its decision by December 20, 2023.
