Tribunal initiates expiry review of duties on welded pipe from four countries

August 25, 2023

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiated an expiry review of its order made in October 2018, to determine if the expiry of the order is likely to lead to continued or resumed dumping of certain carbon steel welded pipe from the Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei, India, the Oman, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates or the subsidizing of the aforementioned goods originating in or exported from India and is likely to result in injury to the domestic industry.

In the first step of the review the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will determine, by January 18, 2024, if there is a likelihood of resumed or continued dumping or subsidizing if the finding is left to expire.

In the event of a positive determination, the Tribunal will determine, no later than June 26, 2024, whether the continued or resumed dumping or subsidizing is likely to result in injury to the domestic industry.
