CBSA finds dumping would resume if duties expired on sucker rods from China

March 19, 2024

On October 16, 2023, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) initiated an expiry review of its finding made in December 2018 concerning the dumping and subsidizing of certain sucker rods originating in or exported from China.

Following the Tribunals decision, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) initiated an expiry review investigation to determine whether the expiry of the order is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and/or subsidizing of the goods.

The CBSA's investigation has now been completed and the Agency has determined that the expiry of the order is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and subsidizing of certain sucker rods originating in or exported from China.

The CITT will now conduct an inquiry to determine whether the expiry of its order is likely to result in injury to the Canadian industry and has announced that it will issue its decision by August 21, 2024.
