The Government of Canada implemented tariff-rate quotas (TRQs) for certain steel goods listed in item 82 of the Import Control List (ICL) on June 27, 2025.

The measure was amended several times and the Government has committed to reviewing it on an ongoing basis and has indicated its intent to initiate efforts towards the potential inclusion of an allocations-based approach for the administration of quota for certain product classes.

Global Affairs Canada is holding public consultations to offer stakeholders the opportunity to share their views on the administration of the TRQs.

Stakeholders have until 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Time) on August 19, 2026, to submit their responses, comments and suggestions.
