The CBSA is adjusting hours of service at 26 land ports of entry across Canada

October 15, 2026

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced it will adjust its opening and closing times at 26 land ports of entry in British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba to maintain alignment with hours at the neighbouring U.S. ports of entry.

This change follows provincial decisions to adopt permanent year-round daylight saving time. Since the United States will continue to change its clocks seasonally, adjusting the operating hours in the fall and spring means alignment of service hours between Canada and the U.S. will be maintained year-round at these sites.

The new hours will take effect on November 1, 2026, and will remain in place until March 14, 2027.

These adjustments in hours of operation will allow for better coordination between Canada and the U.S., including in cases where a traveller is inadmissible and is directed to return immediately to the country they came from. It will also mean greater clarity for all travellers as to when the ports of entry are operating.
